Bixel Exchange joins Startup Weekend LatinX
Bixel Exchange is proud to have participated in last weekend’s Startup Weekend LatinX. Startup Weekend brought together 500 Latinxs and allies, including students from Da Vinci Schools, together for 54 hours in cities around the country, like Oakland, L.A. and New York, to ideate and design tech solutions to the problems affecting the Latinx community. Participants were mentored by some of the brightest minds in tech, business and development. Check out our coverage of the event.
A HUGE congrats to Amit Thakkar of LawMaker!
With voter disillusionment and discontent at all-time highs, a new web platform called LawMaker launches today, Oct. 5, as the first platform in America to crowdsource new public policies from the grassroots, and build coalitions of support to turn good ideas into good laws.
Bixel Exchange supported LawMaker through our Startup LAunch program, a technology SBDC within the Los Angeles regional network. Founder and CEO Amit Thakkar was advised by our very own Lindsey Heisser and Doug Korte.
“It is a free, non-partisan way for Americans to re-engage in the political process, take action, and level the playing field of our democracy,” said Thakkar.

A Day in the Life of Bixel Exchange...Snapshots:
Bixel Exchange joined Girls Who Code, the Office of Mayor Eric Garcetti and our partner Riot Games to hear a discussion surrounding diversity and inclusion in the tech industry, and how important technology education and exposure is for young girls in order to change the face of the tech industry. Riot Games generously donated signed copies of Reshma Saujani's "Girls Who Code" book to all who attended the event. Saujani, who also attended the event, shared her powerful experience and advice to all young girls that they have the power and ability to be the tech leaders of tomorrow!
Bixel Exchange attended an amazing discussion on STEM career pathways for women at LACI’s Women in Cleantech panel. Hearing from CSUN, USC, and nonprofit partners in the room, we honed in on the barriers facing women entering into STEM-related degree programs, and learned what we can do to mitigate them!
