A huge congrats to Startup LAunch company Avisare on being accepted into Techstars LA. Techstars is a three-month global program focused on helping the most promising startup companies accelerate their growth in an intensive bootcamp-style environment. Founder and CEO Sky Kelley and her team will focus on enhancing product user experience, hone-in on their marketing message and pressure test their customer acquisition strategy. FBI informs IT Council of current threats to cybersecurity
During this month’s Innovation & Technology Council meeting on July 25, Bixel Exchange and the Council heard from FBI representative John Palmieri on cybersecurity and the best ways to protect yourself and your business. Palmieri shared alarming cybersecurity facts behind email threats that cripple businesses.
The L.A. Area Chamber’s IT Council identifies and engages with business clusters that have economic growth potential - including signature, emerging and innovative industry groups. The Council aims to promote policies that will strengthen these industries, elevate their global reach, drive job creation and regional economic prosperity.
FairClaims raises $1.8 million
Startup LAunch company FairClaims, formerly Arbiclaims, has closed a $1.8 million seed round. FairClaims’ mission is to make it easy to resolve disputes, regardless of access to legal counsel or other resources, and to dramatically increase access to justice. The online platform allows users to receive a fair and unbiased review of their case with a professional arbitrator, an online hearing at a convenient time and a legally binding decision all in about three weeks. The Tech Talent internship program was launched as part of the L.A. Tech Talent Pipeline, a partnership between L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti and Bixel Exchange at the Chamber. This summer and fall, 100 interns from 10 community colleges will benefit from internships in tech and digital media, IT, software development and production.

We’re partnering with Year Up Los Angeles to recruit students for their one-year training and internship program starting this August. As part of the program, students will have the opportunity to participate in professional training and networking opportunities, and even secure a corporate internship to jumpstart a successful career in Information Technology and business!
